Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon’s arrest warrant for pointing gun at woman: What we know so far

An arrest warrant against Cincinnati Bengals running back Joe Mixon was issued by Hamilton Court, in Cincinnati, Ohio. The warrant says that Nixon “did knowingly point a firearm at the victim stating “you should be popped in the face I should shoot you, the police can get me”. the warrant also states that the offense was committed on 300 Walnut Street, C/O 45202.

Following the incident, the Bengals released a statement saying: “The club is aware misdemeanor charges have been raised against Joe Mixon. The club is investigating the situation and will not comment further at this time.”

According to court records seen by TMZ, the warrant relates to one count of aggravated menacing, which is a first-degree misdemeanor, according to Ohio’s State Laws and Regulations. Mixon could face up to 180 days in jail and pay a fine if convicted.

Aggravated menacing refers to knowingly leading another person to believe that they will be caused physical harm, or harm to their property, unborn child, or family members.

In 2014, as a member of the Oklahoma Sooners college football team, Mixon faced misdemeanor assault charges after he punched a woman. He entered an Alford plea after admitting that there existed enough evidence for his conviction. He was given a year-long probation as well as community service of 100 hours. The court also mandated behavioral counseling for Mixon.

Mixon recorded 145 scrimmage yards in the Bengals’ season-opening 23-20 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. In the 42-21 victory over the Carolina Panthers in Week 9, Mixon carried for 153 yards, had 58 receiving yards, a career-high, and a franchise record five touchdowns. For his performance against the Panthers, he was named AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
