“Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. We will provide more information as it becomes available. The NFL has been in constant communication with the NFL Players Association which is in agreement with postponing the game,” the statement added.
Hamlin was picked in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills out of the University of Pittsburgh. He overcame losing friends to gun violence and his father to prison to become a feel-good story to make the Bills. He played 14 games as a rookie, making two tackles but became a starting safety in September after Micah Hyde went down with a season-ending injury. Hamlin has 92 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 2022.
