‘Nadiyon Paar’ remix featuring Jhanvi Kapoor became the chart-topper with beautiful vocals given by singer Rashmeet Kaur. The singer, who received similar love for her previous track ‘Bajre Da Sitta’ , is back again with her new single ‘Oceana’ along with Gurbax that has crossed 5 million views.

“I would like to give credit to my team for the success. I have Gurbax with me for the song and it took like more than a year to bring it to all of you so yeah we are happy that finally it’s out and has crossed 5 million views already,” she told Opoyi.

The song talks about a hard and toxic relationship.

“We all go through heartbreaks in our life so everybody can easily connect with this song. The message of this video is to inspire everybody that despite all the pain and bad phases of your life, you can still come out of it and you can still be strong because you have yourself. Believe in yourself then you can come out of anything,” she added.

But being a celebrity, was it difficult to talk about the bad phases in your life?

“I think it’s my responsibility to be real and honest with my friends and fans. Also, being a musician, it’s my job that whatever I am releasing should have a meaning. There are already too many things are happening that have no meaning. I think the only way to connect with your fans is through your honesty,” she said.

Talking about ‘Bajre Da Sitta’, Rashmeet said that she never expected the song to be a hit like the way it has now.

“We never expected this and if you notice, the song still has fewer views than many other songs. However, it’s all organic. Today, any song could be a hit on YouTube, it’s very easy but it’s difficult to reach your fans organically. This song became a hit in Canada first then It moved to the US and finally it came to India. After that, celebrities started making reels on it and it became viral,” she said.

Rashmeet also says that one can never expect which song will take how much time to become popular.

“For example, Aurora song became popular after 6 years of its release and so is Bruno Mars ‘Talking to the Moon’. In today’s time, you can’t predict so all that you can do is keep working hard, keep releasing music and keep the connection strong,” she said.

According to her, the lockdown has given a boom to singers who were looking for breaks.

“Today, people have time to listen to new tracks. The catchy TikTok kind of music has stopped hitting the audience. Now they want to listen to new singers, fresh songs. For example, when ‘Bajre Da Sitt’a became a hit, people searched for my channel and started listening to my previous songs that were released two years back. So I think this is where you get the benefit,” she said.

“I was there for a long time but jiska time jab aana hota who tabhi aata hai. I still have a long way to go as it’s just the beginning,” she said.

Talking about hardships, she says that it’s been 6 years for her in Mumbai.

“ I just left my home saying my mom that I am going and she was like kiske paas and I left. You have to face all of that to reach somewhere. Lockdown has played a very big role in my life. I became disciplined. My mom wanted me to be a professor, teacher but I had my plans set,” she said.

Talking about marriage proposals that she gets on social media after every track of hers gets viral, she said, “ I made a blog on it. People were like, ‘will you marry me’. It’s very common in India,” said the singer.
