F1: Max Verstappen win in Canadian GP makes it 6 in a row for Red Bull

A Max Verstappen masterclass in the Canadian Grand Prix saw the Dutch-Belgian driver secure Red Bull Racing’s sixth Formula One victory in a row, establishing a formidable at the top of the constructors’ points table.

Verstappen, who grabbed the pole position at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal on Saturday, finished ahead of Ferrari‘s Carlos Sainz Jr and Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton, who grabbed the second and third spots respectively.

“That was amazing. Withstood all the pressure, brilliant, brilliant drive,” Red Bull Racing boss radioed Verstappen as the 26-year-old finished the race with a 0.993 second lead over second-place Sainz Jr.

The win was Verstappen’s best finish in the Canadian Grand Prix, a spectacle witnessed this year by 338,000 people over a three-day span.

While Sainz Jr will rue a missed chance, it was a decent day for Ferrari’s other driver, Charles Leclerc, who managed a fifth place finish despite starting 19th, courtesy of penalty for changing engines.

It was also a great day for Mercedes and Hamilton, with the seven-time world champion managing a podium finish for the first time since the opening race in March, an achievement made more relevant by the team’s dismal season thus far. Hamilton’s teammate George Russell also managed a fourth-placed finish.

“Great, great effort guys, thank you so much. The car was a little bit better today. Let’s keep pushing,” the 37-year-old radioed in as he finished the race.

Esteban Ocon of Alpine Renault finished sixth while his teammate Fernando Alonso, who started the race second, finished seventh. Alpha Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas and Zhou Guanyu finished eighth and ninth respectively, while Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll grabbed the 10th spot.
