Japan
did not let supporters in the stands in Tokyo for the Olympic Games this
summer, although some spectators were allowed at events in other parts of the
country.
IOC added having spectators in the
stands for the Winter Games “will facilitate the growth of winter sports
in China by giving those spectators a first-hand Olympic and Paralympic
experience of elite winter sports, as well as bringing a favourable atmosphere
to the venues.”
Several COVID-19 policies will be included in the games.
According to the IOC, one of the Beijing safety
principles is that all fully vaccinated competitors would join a
“closed-loop management system” immediately upon arrival, within
which they will move freely.
