French Open 2022: List of all 2021 winners

The 2022 edition of the French Open starts on May 22, with several explosive clashes already on the cards.

Men’s world number one Novak Djokovic and world number five Rafael Nadal, along with teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz have all been drawn in the same half of the tournament, with the Serbian and the Spaniard likely to clash as early as the quarter-finals.

As we wait for the start of the tournament, here’s a look at last year’s winners.

Men’s singles:

Novak Djokovic beat Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas in a hard-fought and long drawn clash that ended 6–7(6–8), 2–6, 6–3, 6–2, 6–4. The win marked Djokovic’s second French Open win and was the 19th Grand Slam win of his career.

Women’s singles:

Barbora Krejčíková defeated Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the women’s single final 6–1, 2–6, 6–4 to clinch her first Grand Slam singles title. The win was also the 26-year-old Czech tennis star’s sixth Grand Slam title overall.

Men’s doubles:

French duo Nicolas Mahut and Pierre-Hugues Herbert emerged  4–6, 7–6(7–1), 6–4 winners in the final against Russian and Kazakh duo Alexander Bublik and Andrey Golubev to win their second French Open title. It was also the duo’s fifth French Open title together.

Women’s doubles: 

Barbora Krejčíková also won the women’s doubles title with compatriot Kateřina Siniaková, beating Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Iga Świątek 6–4, 6–2 in the final. The win was the Czech pair’s third title together and their second French Open win.

Mixed doubles:

Desirae Krawczyk and Joe Salisbury won the mixed doubles final, beating  Elena Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev 2–6, 6–4, [10–5]. The win was. The win was Krawczyk’s first major title win, while it was Salisbury’s first major doubles title.

Wheelchair men’s singles:

Alfie Hewett defended his title against Shingo Kunieda, winning 6–3, 6–4.

Wheelchair women’s singles:

Yui Kamiji failed to defend her title, losing 4–6, 3–6 to  Diede de Groot.

Wheelchair quad singles:

Dylan Alcott successfully defended his title beating Sam Schröder 6–4, 6–2.

Wheelchair men’s doubles:

Defending champions Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid beat  Stéphane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer 6–3, 6–0 to retain their title.

Wheelchair women’s doubles:

Diede de Groot and Aniek van Koot successfully defended their title, defeating Yui Kamiji and Jordanne Whiley 6–3, 6–4.

Wheelchair quad doubles:

Andy Lapthorne and David Wagner won the title, beating Sam Schröder and Dylan Alcott 7–6(7–1), 4–6, [10–7].

Boys’ singles: 

Luca Van Assche beat Arthur Fils 6–4, 6–2.

Girls’ singles:

Linda Nosková defeated Erika Andreeva 7–6(7–3), 6–3.

Boys’ doubles:

Arthur Fils and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard defeated Martin Katz and German Samofalov 7–5, 6–2.

Girls’ doubles:

 Alex Eala and Oksana Selekhmeteva won the title, beating Maria Bondarenko and Amarissa Kiara Tóth 6–0, 7–5.
