The USA enjoyed its most productive day at the ongoing Beijing Winter Olympics so far on Thursday, as Nathan Chen and Chloe Kim won gold medals in men’s free skate and women’s halfpipe respectively. The United States also thrashed China 8-0 in the hosts’ Olympic ice hockey debut. Meanwhile, Germany remained top of the medal tally after sweeping the luge events at the Games. The Germans won the team relay Thursday night, holding off Austria and Latvia for the victory.
Austrian skier Johannes Strolz won gold in the Alpine combined race, 34 years after his father won gold in the event. Cross country skier Therese Johaug of Lativia won gold in the 10km classic race.
