Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that India and the United States can “creatively collaborate” for clean and green technologies on a 2030 agenda. PM Modi’s statement came after US Special Presidential Envoy for climate John Kerry called on the Indian PM.

During the summit, Kerry noted that the US would support India’s climate plans by facilitating affordable access to green technologies and requisite finance, PM Modi said in the statement.

India is committed to meet its contributions under the Paris agreement and is among the few nations on track to fulfill the commitments, PM Modi said in an official statement.

“Had an excellent discussion with US Special Presidential Envoy for Climate @JohnKerry. His passion and commitment to expedite climate action are commendable,” Modi said on Twitter.

In another tweet, he wrote, “With our complementary strengths, India and US can creatively collaborate on a 2030 agenda for clean and green technologies in the service of the planet. @JohnKerry.”

The cooperation between India and the US on financing innovation and faster deployment of green technologies would have a “demonstration effect on other countries,” agreed PM Modi, said the statement.
