England were 107 for no loss when the skipper got rid of English opener Zak Crawley with an in-swinger. In the next session, he delivered a back of a length ball, angled in, to find Pope’s outside edge. Wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant took an easy catch. The hosts were down to 107/2. Soon Alex Lees runout saw them get to 109/3.

With Pope’s dismissal, Bumrah broke legendary Indian all-rounder Kapil Dev’s record for most wickets for an Indian seamer in a Test series against England. The 1983 World Cup winner had taken 22 in 1981-82. The current Indian skipper has already managed 23. Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s 19 wickets in 2014 placed him third on the list.
