Herbert tried to pass to Everett in the end zone. However, Watson caugt the pass. The 23-year-old had 105 interception return yards in four college seasons at Ventura College and Washington State.
Chargers quarterback Herbert passed for two touchdowns and Kansas’ Patrick Mahomes did for as many.
Watson replaced an injured Trent McDuffie in the team. The cornerback had 33 snaps to fourth-round cornerback Joshua Williams’ 15.
“I thought he did a nice job. [That seventh-round] pick doesn’t matter now, right? It’s a matter of how he continues to up his game with the things that he’s seeing there. That’s the important part — and focusing in on the game plan and being able to execute that absolutely (the) best he can. There’s a lot to do when you start getting ready for these things — especially a Thursday night; you don’t have the whole training camp to get ready for it,” said Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke about Watson.

The cornerback said he was ready to put up a great show.
“The coaches did a great job preparing us. Third down, we knew A.J. was their big third-down guy — especially with single-high — so I knew the ball was coming. I just played the ball, made a play,” said Watson.
