Chelsea’s Premier League season is going from bad to worse under manager Graham Potter.

The Englishman took over at Chelsea from Thomas Tuchel and has since overseen a major overhaul with owner Todd Bohley splashing over €300 on eight players this January.

However, despite the additions, the Blues have failed to turn their season around. On Saturday, they suffered a humiliating 2-0 loss to Unai Emry’s Aston Villa side, about which Potter said that he is taking responsibility.

“We have to accept it (the result) and do better,” he said after the match. “We can’t feel sorry for ourselves. We have a fantastic game on Tuesday to put it right.”

“There were a lot of good things in the game, a lot of attacking entries and shots. If you look at the stats of the game it was a positive performance, but in terms of the scoreline it’s not. We’re all really disappointed,” he said.

Given the string of bad results and the fact that Chelsea host a resurgent Liverpool on Tuesday, followed by a Champions League clash against Real Madrid, the boos at Stamford Bridge today had genuine concerns ringing.

With Potter’s future in question, here are five managers who can replace him at the Blues dugout.

  1. Julian Nagelsmann
  2. Antonio Conte
  3. Mauricio Pochetinno
  4. Roberto De Zervi
  5. Luciano Spalletti

Appointing Nagelsmann, however, will not go down well with Chelsea fans. He was sacked from the Bayern Munich job only to appoint Thomas Tuchel, Potter’s predecessor at Chelsea.

Similarly, Antonio Conte is now out of the Tottenham job, but given his history with Chelsea, he is unlikely to go back to Stamford Bridge, even with Todd Bohely now in charge.
