On a race day at Michigan International Speedway, the first caution was brought out due to an incident involving Kyle Busch. While racing against Ryan Blaney, Busch’s No. 8 Chevrolet spun out after contact with Blaney’s No. 12 car. The impact caused Busch to hit the outside wall.
Despite the collision, Busch was able to recover and continue moving, though he headed to pit road for assessment. However, the damage to his car was substantial, leading him to retire from the race and take his No. 8 Chevrolet to the garage. As a result of the wreck, Kyle Busch finished the race in 37th place.
The Michigan International Speedway incident marked Busch’s second last-place finish in the last four races, with a previous 36th-place finish at New Hampshire.

In response to the collision, NASCAR officials made a change to the race schedule. A competition caution originally scheduled for Lap 20 was moved up to Lap 15 to allow teams to inspect their cars for any potential issues that could have contributed to the wreck.
