Kyrie Irving returns to Dallas Mavericks | Fans React
According to The Athletic, eight-time All-Star Kyrie Irving has agreed to re-sign with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $126 million deal. Irving is no longer a free-agent target for the Houston Rockets as a result of this signing.

A player option for the third year is a feature of Kyrie Irving’s new deal with the Dallas Mavericks that gives him flexibility. The 6-foot-2 guard kept his deal with the Brooklyn Nets by exercising his $37 million player option during the previous offseason. However, he was subsequently dealt to the Mavericks before of the trade deadline in February, and he signed a free-agent contract this offseason.
Under his new deal, Irving stands to earn up to $42 million annually. The move to the Mavericks was initiated by Irving’s trade request. The Mavericks had to give up a number of future draft picks in addition to important players like Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie in order to acquire Irving.

The Dallas Mavericks’ expectations to contend for a title are strengthened with the signing of Kyrie Irving, who gives their lineup an additional elite player to complement Luka Doncic. However, it is interesting to note that Irving was said to be visiting with other teams to discuss his possibilities for this year’s free agency only hours before his signing.
