The first edition of the Legends League Cricket became immensely popular when it was organised at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Muscat in January 2022. Now ahead of the second edition of the league, former Indian World Cup-winning opener Gautam Gambhir has confirmed that he will be part of the upcoming season.

One of India’s most accomplished cricketers of all time, Gambhir was one of the most crucial players for the Men in Blue in the 2007 World Twenty20 and 2011 ICC World Cup. Since retiring, Gambhir has set his sights on politics and is currently a Lok Sabha MP from East Delhi.

“I am glad to share that I have committed to take part in the upcoming Legends League Cricket from September 17th onwards,” Gambhir said.

The 40-year-old expressed his excitement about being on the pitch once again. He also added that it will be an honour for him to face some of the best players of all time at the Legends League Cricket season 2.

“I am excited in anticipation of being on a cricket field once again. It will be a privilege and an honour to rub shoulders once again with the glitterati of world cricket,” he added.

Gambhir made his India debut against Bangladesh in an ODI match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka on April 11, 2003. He went on to make his Test debut against Australia the next year at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on November 3. Gambhir has also represented India in the T20Is, making his debut against Scotland on September 13, 2007.

“Who will ever forget Gautam’s match, winning 97 runs in the 2011 World Cup Finals? I am sure fans will be expecting to experience the same nerve-chilling performance from Gautam and other iconic players in Season 2,” Legends League Cricket Co-Founder & CEO Raman Raheja said.
