After Riyad Mahrez secured a lead for Manchester City in the away leg last week from a freekick, he was once again on the mark in the second leg of the semi-final with a brace as Manchester City booked a birth in the UEFA Champions League final for the first time since the inception of the competition.

In the 11th-minute mark, Manchester extended their aggregate lead to 3-1 after fullback Oleksandr Zinchenko latched onto a long ball from keeper Ederson.

He cut the ball back into the middle for Kevin De Bruyne who had a go but was blocked by a Paris Saint-Germain defender. However, the ball fell to the Algerian forward, who tucked him to give City the early advantage.

After conceding the goal, PSG went on an attacking spree in the first half, however, the attacking frontline, which was missing Kylian Mbappe; on the bench with a minor niggle; failed to beat Ederson.

Past the hour mark, Mahrez effectively killed off the tie with his second goal following a devastating counter-attack from the Sky Blues.

Pep Guardiola’s side will now either play Real Madrid or Chelsea in the May 29 final in Istanbul.
