Manchester United’s owners and manager are seemingly divided on the decision of whether to keep a sulky Cristiano Ronaldo in the team. The Portuguese star has been requesting the Red Devils to either sell him or let him free from his contract, but allegedly, Joel Glazer, a member of the American Glazer family that owns the club, does not want to sell the highly marketable superstar.

Although United manager Erik ten Hag had also reiterated this opinion earlier, reports suggest that the Dutchman has changed his mind following Ronaldo’s display of a negative attitude after the club’s disastrous results in their first two Premier League encounters of the season.

The BBC reports that some members at the club are concerned about the negative attitude that has seeped inside the United dressing room post Ronaldo’s arrival. United, notably, were in stellar form in the pre-season tour to Australia and Singapore, defeating arch-rivals Liverpool by a 4-0 margin without the presence of CR7 in their ranks.

Last week, The Sun had reported that a number of United players also do not want to share the dressing room with the 37-year-old Portugal captain. The report also suggested that Ronaldo’s manager, Jorge Mendes, had told United’s Chief Executive, Richard Arnold that he did have an offer from a club and the club just had to name a price for the star forward in order to start the negotiations.

Reports have also surfaced that Atletico Madrid, the city rivals of Ronaldo’s former club, Real Madrid, are also eager to sign the forward despite protests from a section of the club’s fans. They might also offer Man United players like Antoine Griezmann or Alvaro Morata in exchange. United have to announce a move pretty soon since the transfer window is set to close on September 1.
