Manchester United has issued a statement addressing the social media allegations surrounding Mason Greenwood, their star striker.
The club said that it was aware of the images and allegations doing the rounds, involving their number 11, who’s an academy graduate. The spokesperson echoed the club’s official stance, saying “We are aware of images and allegations circulating on social media. We will not make any further comment until the facts have been established. Manchester United does not condone violence of any kind.”

Initially, the 20-year-old Greenwood became embroiled in the controversy when a person by the name of Harriet Robson posted disturbing images on Instagram. She captioned them saying the pictures were for those who wanted to know what Mason Greenwood did to her.

The images hinted at domestic violence. Some reports have emerged that Robson also shared an audio clip where Greenwood allegedly abused and threatened her. The stories were taken down hours after being posted.

Obviously, this news has been disconcerting for several Manchester United fans, who saw Greenwood as a promising member of the team. With the club not investing in any young striker, there were hopes that the academy player would eventually lead United’s front-line. However, if Harriet’s allegations hold water, then Greenwood’s future at United and the sport itself, could be in jeopardy.

Greenwood and Robson had reportedly split up in 2021, but it would appear that the two got back together.
The Manchester United firebrand made his debut in 2019, and since then, he’s had 129 appearances, scoring 35 goals for the club.
While the situation with Greenwood plays out, the Ralf Rangnick-managed side will next be seen in action on Friday, February 4. They go up against Middlesborough for Round 4 of the FA Cup. The club’s last match, before the international break, was the Premier League fixture against West Ham, which United won 1-0. Mason Greenwood was part of the squad for that game.
