Manchester United to step up players’ security after Victor Linedelof break-in

Manchester United will speak to players about improving their security after a break-in at defender Victor Lindelof’s home while his family was there. 

When asked if the management plans to look into stepping up the security for players’ families around games, interim bos Ralf Rangnick said,” Yes, for sure.”

He added that the club will have a meeting in the hotel where the management would want to ‘speak to the players about what kind of measures could be taken to increase the level of security’. 

“What is necessary? Where can the club support the players in those areas? This is something the club will speak to the players [about] in the next couple of weeks and hopefully be able to make their houses more safe and more secure in the future,” the German coach added.

Linedelof’s wife Maja and sons was on the property when the break-in took place.

She revealed on social media that she had locked herself in a room with the couple’s two children to avoid the intruders while the defender playing for United in a 3-1 win at Brentford.

Although the player’s family was not harmed during the incident, Linedelof was granted compassionate leave to support them and missed the game against West Ham. United won 1-0.

“This is something the club will speak to the players about in the next couple of weeks and hopefully make their houses more safe and secure in the future,” Rangnick said.
