MS Dhoni on Thursday stepped down as Chennai Super Kings’ captain, handing the baton to long-time India and franchise colleague Ravindra Jadeja.
The 40-year-old led CSK from IPL’s inaugural season till last year. In the 204 matches as the team’s captain, Dhoni won 121 matches, lost 82 and one match was ended without a result. His winning percentage is 59.60, which is the second-highest in IPL history behind Mumbai Indians skipper Rohit Sharma.
“Jadeja, who has been an integral part of Chennai Super Kings since 2012, will only be the third player to lead CSK. Dhoni will continue to represent Chennai Super Kings this season and beyond,” the Chennai Super Kings said in a statement.
