Mumbai Indians’ VC Jasprit Bumrah explains team’s poor run in IPL 2022

Jasprit Bumrah, who is the vice-captain of the Mumbai Indians this season, explainined the team’s poor form saying that the five-time champions are going through a transition phase and a new group is taking time to adjust. Rohit Sharma and company have lost all their four matches in IPL 2022 and are currently placed at the bottom of the table along with Chennai Super Kings. 

The Mumbai Indians will be seen in action on Wednesday when they take on the Punjab Kings at the MCA Stadium, Pune.

MI had lost four consecutive games in 2014 and five in 2015. However, they managed to make it to the playoffs both times. In fact, Rohit Sharma’s men won the trophy in 2015. 

“It’s a transition phase that every cricketer understands, and every team goes through that. We are in that phase; we have got a new group. So understanding the format of the IPL, how you have to handle pressure and achieve success in this league,” Bumrah, the leader of their bowling attack for the past few years, explained the form slump.

The 28-year-old added that the team is ‘looking forward that we go through this transition’. 

“We’ll get the quality back,” he assured. 

Bumrah said that it is important that the team lives in the present. 

 “Right now, we live in the present. Yes, things have not gone according to plan so far, but we keep on fighting and we keep on finding a way,” Bumrah was quoted as saying in media release issued by the franchise.

“That is the way the game of cricket works. Whenever a challenge comes, you try to find solutions to the challenge and we are trying to do that,” he added.

Bumrah has taken three wickets in four games this season at an economy rate of 8.16 rpo.
