NBA: Poole, Curry bursts helps Warriors down Rockets for 4th straight win

Jordan Poole and Stephen
Curry combined for 45 points as the Golden State Warriors extended their winning
streak to four games with a 120-107 victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Poole scored 15 of his
25 points in the first quarter as well as four rebounds and five assists and
shot seven from 13 from the field and nine out of nine from the free throw
line. His guard partner Curry recorded 20 points, three rebounds and two
assists as the two led the Warriors’ explosive offence.

“He had some openings
and he attacked and just did a nice job recognizing driving lanes,” Warriors
coach Steve Kerr was quoted as saying by the Associated Press. “I thought
Jordan played really well. I was just playing my game, my normal game,
attacking the rack the same. Apparently, we got a good whistle today.”

Among the other
contributors for the Warriors were Andrew Wiggins (16 points, 3 rebounds, 2
assists) and Draymong Green (6 points, 8 rebounds and 9 assists). Leading the
Western Conference, the win improves helped the San Francisco-based team improve
to 8-1 for the season.

For Houston, Jae’Sean
Tate led the scoring with 21 points and 10 rebounds, whole Daniel Theis scored
14 points and had five rebounds and two assists. The Rockets have lost eight straight
games and are tied with New Orleans at an NBA-worst 1-9.

“We’ve just got to
stay together,” Theis said. “It’s a long season. We can’t start
questioning things now and put our heads down. The season is too long.”

The game was finely
poised until the third quarter, as the Warriors had a slender 83-80 lead.
However, Golden State scored 15 straight points to establish an 18-point lead,
which Houston were unable to get back down to single digits again.

“Our third quarters
just have to be better,” Tate said. “We know teams are going to go on runs.
It’s part of the game. But we’ve just got to figure it out.”
