New York Mets sign Lindor and Carrasco in a historic deal

Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco, highly reputed and celebrated players, were signed on by the New York Mets on Thursday which highlighted Steve Cohen’s dedication to build a champion team. 

Lindor, a four-time All-Star and is considered to be one of the best all-round players in Major League Baseball, has joined New York with Carlos Carrasco. 

The deal which was announced on the Mets’ website also hinted that the Indians will secure players like Andres Gimenez, Josh Wold, Isaiah Greene and Amed Rosario.

The joining of Carrasco and Lindor is likely to have a transformative effect on the team’s performance. 

Lindor averaged 34 home runs a season between 2017 and 2019 with a batting average of .278.

On the other hand, Carrasco started 12 games in 2020 in MLB’s season and ended with a 2.91 ERA. He is known to strengthen a rotation led by Marcus Stroman and Jacob deGrom. 

Billionaire hedge-fund tycoon Cohen took over the Mets as majority owner in October last year and has stated his determination to turn the club into World Series winners in the next five years.

“If I don’t win a World Series in the next three to five years then obviously I would consider that slightly disappointing,” Cohen said shortly after completing his takeover of the team last year.

“I’m not in this to be mediocre. I want something great.”

The Mets have failed to secure a World Series title since 1986 and were last beaten in five games against Kansas City Royals.
