Premier League 2020-21 fixtures: Liverpool to begin title defence against Leeds on Sept 12

The Premier League has announced its fixture for 2020-21 season with defending champions Liverpool hosting newly promoted Leeds in the opening match on September 12. 

Manchester City and Manchester United’s opening weekend  matches against Aston Villa and Burnley respectively have been postponed in order to allow them extra time to recover from their recently concluded European campaigns. Instead, City will play against Wolves on September 19 while United’s first game will be against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on that same weekend.

Wolves and Chelsea’s matches too have been delayed due to the same reason and their opening matches will take place on September 14. 

Following their opening match, Liverpool will play Chelsea away, Arsenal at home and Aston Villa away before a Merseyside derby with Everton at Goodison Park on October 17. 

FA Cup holders Arsenal on the other hand have a tough opening to their season as the opening weekend match against Fulham, their away games are are against Liverpool, Manchester City, Manchester United, Leeds and then north London rivals Tottenham on December 5. 

The season is set to begin behind closed doors although some spectators could to return to venues on a socially-distanced basis later in the year.
