Sania Mirza crashes out of Dubai International Tennis Championship

Sania Mirza on Wednesday, crashed out of the Dubai International Tennis Championship in the round-of-16 of the women’s doubles along with partner Andreja Klepac of Slovenia.

On their way to the round-of-16, the Mirza-Klepac beat American-Chinese duo of Shelby Rogers and Saisai Zheng 6-1, 6-3, according to Olympic channel.

Last week, Mirza and partner Klepac had crashed out of the Qatar Total Open after losing 5-7, 6-2, 5-10 to second-seeded Nicole Melichar and Dutch player Demi Schuurs in the semi-finals, reported ANI.

The Qatar Open was her return to the court after 12 months. She and Klepac beat Ukranian pair of Nadiia Kichenok and Lyudmyla Kichenok 6-4, 6-7(5), 10-5 in the opening round.  

In January, Mirza had shared her experience of testing COVID-19 positive on social media. 

In an Instagram post, Mirza said, “Just a bit of info as to what’s been going on since the year began. I had contracted covid 19. I am healthy and absolutely fine now by grace of the almighty but I just wanted to share my experience. I was lucky to not have any major symptoms for the most part of it, but I was in isolation and the toughest part was to stay away from my 2 year old and family.”
