- Serena Williams is set to team up with sister Venus for the women's doubles division in US Open 2022
- Serena had dropped hints of retiring from tennis after this tournament
- The two sisters have won 14 doubles Grand Slam titles together
Tennis legends and siblings Serena and Venus Williams are set to team up once again at the 2022 US Open in the women’s doubles division. They have found their way to the competition as a wild card entry. In a recent feature she wrote for Vogue, Serena spoke of the likelihood of her retiring from tennis post the US Open, and if this proves to be true, this will be the last time that tennis fans will get to see the two legendary sisters in action together for the very last time.
The Williams sisters’ doubles record has been stunning. They have managed to win the 14 Grand Slam doubles finals that they have participated in. They have also won three Olympic gold medals as a doubles team.

Despite having so many wins while playing as a team, the professional rivalry between the two sisters has also been noteworthy. They played the finals of four different Grand Slams from the 2002 French Open to the 2003 Australian Open. Serena managed to win on all four occasions. This was the first of her two Serena Slams (winning all Grand Slams in a non-calendar year). Among all of the professional matches the two have played against each other, Serena leads the charge with 19 victories to Venus’ 12.
When asked about her sister’s desire to retire after the US Open, Venus Williams said to Today, “When she walks on the court she wants to be focused — so this is the moment now for her to do that, like all the other moments, and then when that moment is over, then the next moment will be here. So that’s what it is.”

Serena, in her write-up, had said that she is now more interested in spending time with her daughter and concentrating on her business ventures.
The two Williams sisters were last seen teaming up for a Grand Slam event in the 2018 French Open.
