A 26-year-old man was arrested Monday in connection with a shooting in Sacramento, California over the weekend that killed six people and injured 12 others. The incident took place a few blocks from the state capitol.

The suspect, who has been identified as Dandre Martin, was booked on suspicion of assault and illegal possession of a firearm.

Martin’s alleged role in the shooting was not clear. Police also did not reveal if they were still searching for additional suspects.

Police previously said at least two people opened fire in the downtown district almost close to the Golden 1 Center, home of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings.

At least three buildings and three vehicles had been hit by gunfire, police said. Some eyewitnesses claimed that at least 76 shots were heard over the course of 54 seconds.

Police released the name of the victims, which included three men and three women.

Three of the men were identified as, Sergio Harris, 38, De’Vazia Turner, 29, and Joshua Hoye-Lucchesi, 32. The three women were,  Johntaya Alexander, 21, Melinda Davis, 57, and Yamile Martinez-Andrade, 21.

An additional twelve people were wounded in the shooting and taken to local hospitals.

“We know these lives were not the only lives impacted by gun violence last night. And we equally mourn for those victims and families who do not make national headlines,” President Joe Biden said in statement Monday. “But we must do more than mourn; we must act.”

Videos posted online appear to show a brawl break out in the area. However, it was unclear if the fight triggered the shooting.

Harris’s wife, Leticia Fields, told the San Francisco Chronicle a stranger had told her on the phone that he had been shot.

“It sounds like a lot of innocent people lost their lives tonight,” Fields told the Chronicle. “I’m taking it day by day. I haven’t told our 11-year-old yet”.
