India’s top-ranked singles player, Sumit Nagal will be up
against Austria’s Dominic Thiem in the US Open 2020 men’s singles second round tie.
Nagal, on Tuesday night, became the first Indian player to win a round at a
Grand Slam in seven years, when he defeated Bradley Klahn of America in men’s
singles first round. Nagal defeated Klahn 6-1, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 in two hours and
12 minutes. Thiem, on the other hand, progressed to round two after his Spanish
rival Jaume Munar retired before the start of the third set. Thiem was leading
7-6(6), 6-3.
