Watch: Babar Azam, Pakistan team’s reaction after losing to Zimbabwe in T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe’s win in Thursday’s T20 World Cup match sent shockwaves into Pakistan’s dressing room. 

Despite putting a total of 130/8, Zimbabwe’s bowlers pulled off a performance that kept Pakistan still in search of their first win of the tournament.

The final over kept viewers on the edge of their seats as Pakistan needed 11 runs to win. In the first ball of the last over Mohammad Nawaz tried to collect a boundary but had to settle for a three. Mohammad Wasim picked Young Brad Evans’ ball well, sending it down the ground for four. Pakistan got a single off the third ball.

Pakistan needed three off three, but they scrambled to score a run. It all came down to Pakistan needing a three off the last ball. Despite failing to hit a boundary shot, Shaheen and Wasim came storming back for a second run, which could have sent both the teams into a Super Over. However, Shaheen fell short, giving Zimbabwe the epic win against Pakistan.

As the Zimbabwe players celebrated the win, the Pakistan dressing room was shocked after witnessing the unexpected.

Pakistan’s players were stunned as they lost by 1 run. The camera panned to Babar Azam, who sat with a dejected look.  his hands 

After the match, Babar admitted that he was disappointed.

“We would have taken 130 at the halfway stage. Very disappointing performance, we are not up to the mark in batting. We have good batters but both openers got out in the powerplay. When Shadab and Shan were building partnership, unfortunately Shadab got out and then back-to-back wickets that pushed us into pressure situation,” Babar said during the post-match presentation ceremony.
