Russell Wilson returned to Seattle after serving the Seahawks for a decade. The Denver Broncos quarterback was booed by thousands at the Lumen Field.

The Seahawks led the Broncos 7-3 in the first quarter. Wilson was traded to Denver offseason.

Fans were seen holding signs and boards that mocked Wilson. One poster read, “Dude turned diva went Hollywood on us!

“Better win or he will quit on you too!” another one said.

Russell Wilson was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He helped the team win the Super Bowl XLVIII and an NFC Championship next year. The 33-year-old holds the record for most wins by an NFL quarterback through nine seasons (98) and is one of four quarterbacks in NFL history with a career passer rating over 100.

He had signed a four-year, $140 million contract extension with the Seahawks in 2019.

“I’ll forever have love in my heart for Seattle,” Wilson said ahead of the game. He had a record of 104-53-1 for the Seahawks, but his relationship with coach Pete Carroll soured in recent years and he was traded to Denver last March for a package of draft picks and players, including QB Drew Lock, who lost a training camp competition with Wilson’s former backup, Geno Smith.

“I know they’ll be rowdy. I know they’ll be excited. I know it’s ‘Monday Night Football’. So, it’ll be a special environment,” Wilson said Thursday.

“Listen, I think that I gave my heart and soul every day, and I know nothing less. So, hopefully it’ll be positive. But at the end of the day we’ve got a game to play.”

“Honestly, why would they boo Russel Wilson? He won them a Super Bowl. Seattle fans will ALWAYS be the absolute worst. I hope Denver obliterates them,” a Twitter user wrote.

“Seahawk fans booing. Embarrassing. Should stand in admiration & silence when @DangeRussWilson has the ball,” another one added.
