England created history in the Euro 2020 on Tuesday at Wembley Stadium after winning against Germany for the first time in the knockout stages of a tournament since 1966. The England cricket team together watched the match in the dressing room after their ODI against Sri Lanka. And a video posted by England Cricket on Twitter shows the cricket team celebrating England’s second goal of the match.

England beat Germany 2-0 in the round of 16 and qualified to the quarterfinals to face Ukraine. Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane scored the two goals for England. England versus Germany is considered to be an iconic fixture in the football fraternity, and the standout match of the fixture dates back to the 1966 World Cup final, in which England won 4-2 at Wembley. That was also the last time England had won against Germany in a major tournament.

Sterling broke the deadlock in the 75th minute of the match. Three Lions captain Kane scored the insurance goal in the 86th minute. With only four minutes of regulation period remaining, Germany virtually had no way back. Germany were one of the semifinalists of the previous edition of the European Championship in 2016, while England were knocked out in the round of 16. Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant also watched the match from the stadium on Tuesday.
