Meanwhile Spanish and Italian giants like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan have also joined in.

The ESL, which has selected Real Madrid President Florentino Perez as the League President with Andrea Agnelli and Joel Glazer as his deputies, will follow a format where the 20 participating teams will be divided into two groups, which will then compete for a top-three position to pave their way for the quarter-finals. The remaining last 8 spots will be decided by playoffs between the teams placed fourth and fifth in each group.

The teams which have confirmed their participation in the ESL have won 40 combined European cup titles.
