Treylon Burks, Tennessee Titans wide receiver, was carted off the field in a Thursday night game vs the Pittsburgh Steelers after a scary fall that saw him land on the back of his neck. Burks lay on the field for some time with eyes closed. He was immobilised with a spine board as he was taken off the field, but he appeared to give a thumbs up.

This is the second time Treylon Burks will miss games with an injury in season 2023 of the NFL. Last month he missed play with a knee injury.

Who is Treylon Burks?

Treylon. Burks was selected by the National Football League’s Tennessee Titans in in the opening round of the 2022 Draft.

Burks was born in Warren, Arkansas, on March 23, 2000. He played wide receiver for the football squad at Warren High School, recording 151 receptions for 3,403 yards and 43 touchdowns. He also set a school record by registering six receptions of 100 yards or more. He tore his ACL in 2018, which kept him out of much of his senior season. He made his collegiate football commitment to the University of Arkansas on July 30, 2018.

Four-star recruit Burks selected Arkansas over Clemson, Florida State, Michigan, and many other institutions.  Burks started nine out of his 11 games as a true freshman at Arkansas in 2019 and hauled in 29 passes for 475 receiving yards. The coaches selected Burks for the SEC All-Freshman team and designated him to the second team of the conference as a return specialist. Despite only starting 8 games as a sophomore in 2020, he emerged as Arkansas’ top receiver with 51 receptions for 820 yards and 7 touchdowns. He led his team in receptions once more in 2020, earning second-team all-SEC honours .

The AP and Coaches selected Burks for the Second Team All-SEC. Burks became just the fourth athlete in programme history to record more than 1000 receiving yards in a single season during his junior year of 2021, starting all twelve games while accruing 66 receptions for 1,104 receiving yards and 11 receiving touchdowns. Burks completed his career in 2021 and was named to the first team of the SEC .

After finishing the regular season with an SEC-best record of 8-4, Arkansas received an invitation to play Penn State on New Year’s Day in Tampa in the 2022 Outback Bowl. Burks made the decision to forego playing in the Outback Bowl as well as skipping his senior year in order to declare his plan to join the 2022 NFL Draft. After going 9-4 overall and finishing the season ranked #21 in the final AP Poll, Arkansas went on to defeat Penn State in the Outback Bowl, 24-10.

The Tennessee Titans selected Burks with the 18th overall pick in 2022. Tennessee traded receiver A. J. Brown in exchange for the draft pick from the Philadelphia Eagles, along with a third-round pick in 2023. His 4-year, $14 million fully guaranteed contract with a fifth team option has been agreed upon by the Titans and Burks.
