Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti on Saturday made European football history as he led his side to a La Liga title, becoming the only manager to win all of Europe’s top five leagues.

Los Blancos won the league on Saturday after a 4-0 win at home over Espanyol, in which Rodrygo, Marco Asensio, and the talismanic Karim Benzema all bagged goals.

The win not only helped Real Madrid with their 35th La Liga title, their second piece of silverware this season, but also helped Ancelotti get his hands on a La Liga title, the only missing piece in his stellar career as a club football manager.

Commenting on the incredible feat after the match, the 62-year-old Italian said, “It fills me with great pride. I like what I do and the five league titles mean that I’ve done a good job. I’m proud to be at Real Madrid and to win trophies with this team, and I’d like to keep doing it.”

“I’m delighted, we’ve accomplished a challenge. The season we’ve had in the league has been spectacular, with a lot of consistency and stability. I’d like to thank all the players for their hard work, attitude and commitment. Today we have to celebrate,” Ancelotti added.

A year after leading AC Milan to Champions League glory, Ancelotti led the Rossoneri to a Serie A title in 2004.

The Italian’s next top flight crown in Europe came during his spell at Chelsea, when he led the Blues to a Premier League title in 2010.

Ancelotti subsequently went on to lift the Ligue 1 title with Paris Saint-Germain in the 2012-13 season, before leading German giants Bayern Munich to a Bundesliga title in the 2016-17 season.

Now, the Italian has also managed to get his hands on a La Liga title, his sixth piece of silverware for Real Madrid in his two spells at the club.
