Tech giant
Microsoft on Wednesday announced the retirement of its browser
Internet Explorer in a blog post. The browser, which was created 25 years ago saw
a steep decline in usage by users owing to its slow process and time-consuming
search method. With the growing popularity of competitors like Google’s Chrome or
Apple’s Safari, Internet explorer was largely abandoned by web users.

The company,
however, has another browser by the name of Microsoft Edge.

“We are
announcing that the future of Internet Explorer on Windows 10 is in Microsoft
Edge,” the company said in a blog post Wednesday, referring to its other
browser.

“Not only is
Microsoft Edge a faster, more secure, and more modern browsing experience than
Internet Explorer, but it is also able to address a key concern: compatibility
for older, legacy websites and applications,” Microsoft added in the post.
