Reliance to partner with Google for 5G rollout in India

Reliance Jio and global tech giant Google are set to partner for the rollout of 5th generation or 5G technology in India. Announcing the tech partnership, Reliance chairman Mukesh Ambani said Jio will use Google Cloud’s cutting-edge technology to power Jio’s 5G solutions.
Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai also addressed the virtual meet and said that the partnership between Google and Reliance will help bridge the digital divide in India.

“A new 5G partnership between Google Cloud and Jio will help more than a billion Indians connect to a faster internet, support businesses in digital transformation and lay foundation for next phase of India’s digitisation,” CEO Pichai.
“Jio is uniquely positioned to quickly and seamlessly upgrade to 5G. To develop a 5G ecosystem, we are working with global partners to develop a range of 5G devices. Jio is not just working to make India 2G-mukt, but also 5G-yukt,” Mukesh Ambani said.

Talking about JioFiber’s achievements Mukesh Ambani added that the broadband service has acquired over 2 million new premises over the past year. He added that JioFiber has become the largest and fastest-growing fixed broadband operator in India.
