Twitter will throw
open
its offices from March 15, the social media giant reported Thursday.
However, the company has decided to allow employees to work from home “forever,”
company CEO Parag Agrawal tweeted. Offices of the microblogging site remained
shut for nearly two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s been almost
two years since we closed our offices, and travel…we’re ready to fully open up
business travel and all our offices around the world, Business travel is back
effective immediately, and our office openings will start on March 15,” the
statement shared by Agarwal on his Twitter handle read.

For employees who
wish to continue working remote, the company has made several provisions which
they can choose according to suitability. “As we open back up, our approach
remains the same. Wherever you feel most productive and creative is where you
will work and that includes working from home full-time forever.”

“Office every day?
That works too. Some days in office, some days from home? Of course. That’s
actually how most of you feel,” read the statement.

“In 2020 we
adjusted quickly to working virtually with resilience and agility, but almost
all of us were working from home. Distributed working will be much, much
harder. Anyone who has joined a meeting remotely while others are in a
conference room knows this pain. There will be lots of challenges in the coming
months, and we’ll need to be proactive, intentional, learn and adapt.”

The Indian-origin
Twitter CEO, who took over from Jack Dorsey recently, said that the company
will be working on logistics, dates, safety measures and how work will be
carried out.

Meanwhile, Google
is planning to help employees switch to a hybrid model soon, according to
reports in the US media. Employees are expected to be returning to Silicon
Valley offices in early April, with the expectation they will work from home
only a couple of days a week.
