Video streaming platform YouTube suffered a worldwide outage on Wednesday that affected nearly 286,000 users, DownDetector.com, a website that monitors outages, showed. The issue started at 6.53 pm ET (23.53 GMT), with users complaining about trouble in watching videos, the website said.

“If you’re having trouble watching videos on YouTube right now, you’re not alone – our team is aware of the issue and working on a fix,” YouTube said in a statement.

The video-streaming app is owned by Alphabet Inc’s Google.

Later in the day, the company fixed the glitch that had caused the outage.

“…And we’re back,” YouTube said, adding that it was “sorry for the interruption.”
