Tim Keller, a well-known Evangelical author, theologian, and pastor from New York City, has passed away after a prolonged struggle with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan confirmed the news of Keller’s demise in a statement and said he died on Friday Morning at the age of 72. In a statement, Redeemer said, “We are forever grateful for his leadership, heart, and dedication to sharing the love of Christ with others. While we will miss his presence here, we know he is rejoicing with his Savior in heaven”.

Tim Keller was married to Kathy Keller and co-founder of the Redeemer Presbyterian Church with his husband.

Who is Kathy Keller?

Kathy Keller was born in 1950 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Mary Louise Stephens and Henry R. Kristy. She previously held the position of assistant director of communications at New York City’s Redeemer Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary in Massachusetts with a Master of Theological Studies (M.T.S.) summa cum laude in 1975, where she also met Tim Keller.

She is co-author, with her husband Tim, of The Meaning of Marriage: Facing the Complexities of Commitment with the Wisdom of God, and the author of Jesus, Justice, and Gender Roles: A Case for Gender Roles in Ministry. Tim and Kathy had three children Michael, Jonathan, and David Keller.

Michael took it to a public platform to condole his father’s demise and said, “Timothy J. Keller, husband, father, grandfather, mentor, friend, pastor, and scholar died this morning at home. Dad waited until he was alone with Mom. She kissed him on the forehead and he breathed his last breath. We take comfort in some of his last words, ‘There is no downside for me leaving, not in the slightest.’ See you soon Dad.”
