The guilty verdict in Walterboro, South Carolina was led by a six weeks-long trial and it came over 20 months after the murders happened. Murdaugh killed his wife, Maggie, 52, and their younger son, Paul, 22, near the dog kennels on the family’s rural estate.
The fearful crime stunned the SC Lowcountry in part because of the storied history of the Murdaugh family. They controlled a regional prosecutor’s office for over 80 years and ran a law firm for even longer.
Alex Murdaugh has been found guilty of the murders of his son, Paul and his wife, Maggie. I’m sure this was the expected end. A lot is said about this family’s supposed transgressions.
