Atholton High School football game brawl leads to gun being pulled: Report

There are reports of a brawl which broke out during the Atholton-Wilde Lake football game. The fight ended the game early and a gun was pulled.
One Twitter user commented, “Scary times we live in.”
Another Twitter user confirmed hearing that the game had been stopped because of the fight, and added “come on guys, first damn game.” The incident at Howard County in Maryland left some fuming and one individual commented, “the kids and adults that started the fights and caused chaos at Atholton tonight” should be made examples of. They tagged the Howard County School system and the local police department.

The game was called off in the “3rd quarter when fans from both sides started a huge fight”, an individual reported.
Atholton and Wilde Lake are part of the 3A South division. Eric Woodson, who’s been coaching Atholton for three seasons, said ahead of the games, “We want to be competitive in every game, to repeat as the county champs, and to compete for the state championship”, as per The Baltimore Sun.

Brian Henderson, in his fourth season coaching the Lake Wilde team, noted, “The Wildecats will continue their growth and development from the 4-6 campaign of the 2021-22 season. We lost three games by one point and a tough playoff loss in overtime by a field goal. We have a mix of young new players and return key veterans in the secondary, defensive line linebacker and offensive line position groups, which will serve as a foundation piece for success”, adding, “The goal for the Wildecats this season is continued improvement from week to week and getting better every day we are on the field.”
A month back, the Howard County police investigated a shooting where one roommate had shot the other, and the latter was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.
