The area of Boulder High School was placed on lockdown and a shelter-in-place was ordered after an unconfirmed report of a possible active shooter on campus on Wednesday morning.

At 9:40 a.m. the police were still going room by room and sweeping the school. Officers continued to clear the school but had not found any victims or a shooter. Through a tweet, they did, however, urge people in the Goss Grove area between Broadway to the west, Folsom Street to the east, Canyon Boulevard to the north, and University Avenue and Taft Drive to the south to continue to shelter in place.

The school has a delayed start at 9:35 a.m. Boulder Valley School District officials said it was for professional development hours. Officials asked students to remain at home and for residents to avoid the area.

Students who were already at the campus were evacuated and taken by bus to the BVSD’s district office. Parents were told that they could pick up their children at 11 a.m. A similar threat of a shooter was also noted in other Colorado schools in Cañon City, Aspen, and Brighton on Wednesday morning.

Boulder police confirmed that the other incidents in the other schools were a hoax. But they are yet to confirm if the reports at Boulder High were part of a hoax too.

This is a developing story.
