A Dead & Company fan fell to his death from balcony during the jam-rock behemoth’s set break in New York’s Citi Field on Friday night.

According to reports, the man, in his 40s, fell 30 to 50 feet and landed on concrete after attempting a flip. “He attempted a body flip, fell, and landed on the balcony below,” police stated to the New York Daily News.

“His brother was with him. He was crying,” a driver outside the stadium informed the New York Post. “He was unresponsive and he hit the ground head first. There was no way he survived,” said the driver, who only told his first name, Dan. “He was way too drunk. You could smell it.” “His brother came downstairs and found out he jumped,” Dan added. “His brother was with him. He was crying.”

According to police sources, the individual, who was identified as a Brooklyn resident, was likely inebriated when he fell to his death from the fifth storey.

According to the New York Daily News, first responders arrived about 9 p.m. and took the man to New York Presbyterian Hospital in Queens, where he was declared dead.

The Dead & Company have not released a comment on the concertgoer’s death as of Saturday morning.

Since the group’s formation in late 2015, Dead & Company has performed seven times at Citi Field, the home stadium of the New York Mets.

Three Grateful Dead members make up the successful touring act: Bob Weir (rhythm guitar and vocals), Bill Kreutzmann (drums), and Mickey Hart (drums and Pythagorean monochord). John Mayer, who plays lead guitar and sings the tunes that were formerly sung by the old group’s leader, Jerry Garcia, joined the septuagenarian jam-rockers.
