Although the official results haven’t come out yet, Ossoff thanked voters for “electing” him to the US Senate.

The runoffs are crucial as they’ll determine who’ll control the Congress. If the Democrats win both the seats, they’ll control the Senate. This is because there will be a 50-50 split and the deciding vote will be cast by Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, who is a Democrat.
The party already controls the House of Representatives and by winning the Senate, President-elect Joe Biden will find it easy to advance his policies.
