US President Donald Trump on Thursday criticised loyal aides Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Attorney General Bill Barr in the build-up to the Presidential election, as per an AFP report.
Forced off the campaign trail due to his COVID-19 diagnosis, Donald Trump, during his interview with Fox Business, demanded that his two cabinet members must take action against the previous Barack Obama administration.
Trump launched an attack on Hillary Clinton and said that Pompeo must ensure that the 2016 Democratic presidential candidate’s emails should be released. The release of Clinton’s email has been a long-standing demand for the Republican activists who attack her over her use of a private server while being the secretary of state.
“They’re in the State Department but Mike Pompeo has been unable to get them out, which is very sad, actually,” AFP quoted Trump as telling to told Fox Business.
Trump expressed his displeasure at Pompeo’s inability to release the email and said, “I’m not happy about him for that reason.” The 74-year-old added, “He’s running the State Department — you get them out.”
Pompeo gained prominence following his stinging attacks on Clinton, in the questioning of the former Senator in relation to the deadly attacks on the US mission in Benghazi, Libya.
Trump who is trailing in the polls, has been urging Attorney General Barr to prosecute members of the Obama administration for investigating his campaign’s relationship with Russia, as per AFP.
Trump also said, “To be honest, Bill Barr is either going to go down as the greatest attorney general in the history of the country or he’s going to go down as a very sad situation.”
“I mean, I’ll be honest with you, he’s got all the information he needs,” said Trump referring to the indictments.
President Trump has alleged that the Obama administration of working to thwart him through the Russian “hoax.”

An investigation conducted by former FBI director Robert Mueller had found that Russia sought to boost the Trump campaign and meddle in the US elections.
Mueller had provided significant evidence that Trump associates connected and coordinated with Russian meddling of US elections in 2016.
Attorney General Barr however, has found no evidence to prosecute and indict the Obama administration but has been a staunch supporter of President Trump.
