The ex-president will be treated like any other suspect, including being read his Miranda rights, fingerprinted, and taking a mug shot. He may be handcuffed, although he may not have to endure a perp walk, where a suspect is publicly led out of a police station or the DA’s office in handcuffs.

Instead, he may enter the building surrounded by aides and Secret Service agents, wearing a suit and tie. He may also negotiate with prosecutors to enter via a back entrance to avoid media attention. The charges against Trump are related to $130,000 in payments made by his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, to adult film actress Stormy Daniels during his 2016 presidential campaign. Prosecutors claim the payment violated campaign finance laws and was intended to silence Daniels about an affair with Trump, which he denies.

Trump declared on March 18 that he expected to be arrested on March 21, and he urged his supporters to protest. If he is arrested, he will be the first president since Ulysses S. Grant in 1872 to face charges. Trump, who currently resides at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, will be required to surrender to either an NYC police precinct or the Manhattan DA’s office.
“Trump will be fingerprinted. They will take his mug shot. He may even be handcuffed and perp walked,” a Twitter user said.
