Oak Forest fire and shooting: Four people dead, gunfire recorded on camera

A fire broke out at a home at 5500 block of Ann Marie Lane, in a suburban Chicago town called Oak Forest. Police reported that a domestic violence suspect had barricaded themself in the home.

As per the latest updates from Chicago-based ABC7, four people were dead in the Oak Forest fire. Gunshots were also reportedly heard from the house and the ring camera of the opposite house recorded footage of guns being used. 

Officials are still trying to determine whether other individuals are also present in the said home.

The Oak Forest Police Department had tweeted out a message regarding the incident where it asked citizens living near the address to “to shelter in place at this time”. Check out the tweet right here:

SWAT teams and first responders were active in the area after the incident was reported. The fire was extinguished by 9:40 AM local time. Aerial photographs obtained by CBS News Chicago showed that firefighters deployed at the scene had to act from outside the police barricade, even as flames raged through the roof.

Central Avenue is closed from Independence to 155th Street since the fire started. The stretch from Long Island to 155th street was also closed, but it reopened at 10 AM, according to reports.
