Flash flood warning issued in Dallas-Fort Worth; heavy rainfall expected

In the week ahead, North Texans can expect rains, storms and flash flooding across the region, according to the National Weather Service.

The service issued a flash flood watch for all of Dallas-Fort Worth through Wednesday morning with 4 to 6 inches of rain expected. In some places, it could rise to even 8 inches of rainfall.

“Multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected across the region over the next several days and could lead to street flooding,” reported KXAS-TV.

Flooding is expected in urban, low-lying areas and those with poor drainage.

Meanwhile, a tornado warning was also issued briefly Sunday afternoon in northern Dallas County. The National Weather Service said small hail and a radar-indicated tornado could be in the area. The weather service said the tornado could be rain-wrapped and not visible and cancelled the warning just before 2:30 p.m.

Each day this week could see multiple rounds of thunderstorms and rain, through Friday.
