A hotel located close to the venue of the G7 summit in the United Kingdom, was shut down temporarily after staff members tested positive for COVID-19. The hotel was reportedly housing a delegation from Germany.

The property was hosting members of Germany’s security staff and a team of media personnel working for a US-based organisation.

The seaside hotel, which is located in the southwest part of England in Cornwall, was shut down under advisement of health officials, reported Reuters citing statements from the owners of the property.

A spokesperson for the hotel owners reassured that the safety and security of both, the guests and staff members, were being prioritised.

The spokesperson added that the decision was taken after “extensive discussions” with Public Health England and the Cornwall Council, reported Reuters.

The hotel would restart its operations as soon as a COVID-19 deep clean of the property is completed and there were enough staff members to run it.

The G7 summit, which is one first in-person diplomatic events since the pandemic started, is considered to be one of the most significant meetings as it attended by world leaders of countries like United States, United Kingdom, France. Canada, Italy, Japan.
