Gunman opens fire with rifle while walking down street in Philadelphia | Watch video
A shooting spree left four people dead and four more hurt on Monday night in Southwest Philadelphia’s Kingsessing neighborhood. According to authorities, a suspect is in their custody.
At least two children were shot, but it was unclear what condition they were in at the time.
A police officer responded to shooting just before 8:30 p.m. and discovered at least one victim close to South 56th Street and Chester Avenue.
As they arrived on the scene, police received numerous reports of a male carrying a gun and continuing to fire in the neighborhood. The gunfire was also heard by the officers.
Within a short period of time, authorities had located four victims in various places, and they had been taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center. The same hospital received four additional victims via private automobile.
In the alleyway behind the 1600 block of South Frazier Street, police stated that they had captured a man wearing a bulletproof vest and found a rifle and handgun.
According to authorities, no cops fired their weapons while making the arrest.
Police said two juveniles were expected to be transported from Penn Presbyterian to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
