‘Will kiss guys and beautiful women’: Trump on resuming campaign after COVID-19 recovery

US President Donald Trump on Monday returned to the centre stage in Florida, resuming his re-election campaign rallies that were put on a halt for 10 days due to his COVID-19 diagnosis, and said that he feels “so powerful.”

“I feel so powerful. I’ll walk in there, I’ll kiss everyone in that audience. I’ll kiss the guys and the beautiful women, just give you a big fat kiss.”

With 22 days to go for the elections where he will face his Democrat challenger Joe Biden, Trump vowed that he is in ‘great shape’. 

Trump, while addressing the cheering crowd in Sanford, near Orlando, few of whom wore masks, said, “I went through it and now they say I’m immune.”

His rally took place a few hours after the White House physician, Sean Conley, said that Trump tested negative for COVID-19 through a rapid antigen test and no longer contagious.

The doctor’s statement came as Trump was on board Air Force One en route Florida for a campaign rally, the first of four battleground states he plans to visit over the next four days.

Trailing far behind his opponent Biden in national polls, Trump resumed his campaign rallies just a week after getting discharged from hospital and is seeking to rally his base on a blitz of key swing states.
